About Kimberly
I always knew I wanted to be in fashion. Even as a young child I would make new clothes for my Barbie’s using tissue paper. I would pick out the most fashionable Barbie and add to her wardrobe with a great day outfit and a fabulous evening gown. After high school I attended The Art Institute of Philadelphia and graduated with a degree in Fashion Design. College was not easy at first. Most of the students in my major had knowledge and experience with sewing. My first class was a sewing lab, and not knowing how to turn on the industrial sewing machine was a challenge. But classes like stretching and patternmaking came easy. The ability to draw and create just came naturally. Having that creative base paved the way for me to grow my ability to sew.
After graduating college, I started my first job working at a prom dress company. Starting in customer service I quickly moved up to an Assistant Buyer role. They expanded their brand and started manufacturing prom and wedding gowns. Using my creative instincts and my ability to sew, I was promoted to a designer role. Knowing I was ready for my next challenge and wanted to expand my fashion experience, I became a Product Development Manager, I managed development for major brands in the jewelry, watch and accessory area selling to retailers such as HSN, QVC, Anthropologie, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and many other specialty retail stores.
Connecting with customers directly was something I was missing in my career. I was offered an opportunity to manage a local bridal salon. I became passionate about helping brides find their perfect wedding gown. I loved seeing a bride light up when she found the gown that was meant for her. Watching a mom or relative with tears of joy when they first see her walk out, brought out the same emotions in me. I was invested in her happiness. I knew this was what I was meant to do. I knew I could do it myself, a better version with my rules.
